Description:
“Sonic Extensions” is a continuation of Dragičević’s and Sonderkamp’s performative work “Approximations” in which they focused on essential properties of the visual, the visceral and of movement as choreographic material. “Sonic Extensions” explores potential relations between body, sound, space and movement, and proposes specific ways of installing recorded text in various spatial situations and performative settings in order to modify the acoustic properties of the performance space. The piece itself emerges as an audiovisual installation in a performance setting as the performers continually place sound objects in fluctuating spatial locations. Their bodies are conceived of as distributing devices, their agency governed by two simple movement tasks: to carry and to place the sound object in space.

Bio:
Martin Sonderkamp is an artist currently based in Berlin and Stockholm. His choreographic works expand across disciplinary and aesthetic boundaries between dance, visual art and music in the form of participatory choreography, mixed media installations and scores for improvised performances. His latest works include Sonic Extensions (2017) Approximations (2015), Task 14 (2014), Rewired (2013) and Social Movement (2012). Currently he is employed as Professor of Choreography and as artistic researcher at DOCH - Stockholm University of the Arts, from 2011-2015 he held a position as Professor for Contemporary Dance at the University for Music and Dance Cologne. After completing his studies at the School for New Dance Development in 1995, he co-founded and danced with Amsterdam based Magpie Music Dance Company (1995-2006). Furthermore, he toured his own choreographic work and performed in numerous improvisation events across Europe, the US and Asia. As a free-lance teacher he has worked for companies, festival and institutions in around 30 countries such as Cullberg Ballet; Sasha Waltz & Guests; Movement Research, New York; Tanzquartier Wien; CI Festival Tokyo; Seoul Improvisation Festival; Amsterdam
University of the Arts; ZZT Cologne; HZT Berlin; GW University Washington, DC; and numerous others. Martin is also a member of DMB, the decision-making board of Nomad Dance Academy.

Darko Dragičević (1979) was born in Belgrade (RS) and lives in Berlin (DE). Dragičević explores interdisciplinary projects and cross-media collaborations within the fields of visual arts, film and performance and works internationally as a visual artist, film and performance maker. His most recent projects include the documentary film The Body as Archive, a Tanzfonds Erbe Project, the choreographies Approximations and Sonic Extensions and
Failure as practice, an artistic project realized in collaboration with Goethe Institut Belgrade. His films have been presented in numerous international film festivals and curated programs including Ann Arbor Festival Michigan, Cinedans Dance on Screen Festival in Amsterdam and Krakow Film Festival. As a film director, he received awards from the Bosifest 7th International Film Festival for and by people with disabilities in Belgrade, from the 57th International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen and from Casa del Cinema in Rome.
His works in the field of visual arts have been featured in various solo and group exhibitions such as David Zwirner Gallery New York, The Armory Show New York and Otto Zoo Gallery Milan. Dragičević frequently works in the field of education. He taught at TQW Tanzquartier Wien, at the University for Music and Dance Cologne/ZZT Centre for Contemporary Dance and at the University of Arts Bern and others. He holds a MFA (Hons) in Visual Arts and a BA in Visual Communication from The International College of Arts & Sciences in Milan and a Filmmaking diploma from New York Film Academy, New York City.

Самиот перформанс се појавува како аудиовизуелна инсталација во перфомративна поставка, бидејќи изведувачите постојано поставуваат звучни објекти во флуктуирачки просторни локации.
Нивните тела се сфатени како уреди за дистрибуција, нивното застапување е управувано од две едноставни задачи за движење: да го носат и да го постават звучниот објект во вселената.

Martin Sonderkamp е уметник во моментов со седиште во Берлин и Стокхолм.
